Never Forget

I've written thousands of thoughts on the effect 9/11had on me my family and friends. I know some who lost loved ones in the towers I pray daily for them. Yes it's been 10yrs but it feels like yesterday we are a strong Nation under God we have moved forward the new tower is half way finished it's going to be beautiful.
The memorial sits between the footprints of the original towers with 2 trident steel beams that survived the ruble of the collapse was built around them it's breathtaking.
The 2 pix I've posted are from the day of the opening
Ciao for now
Just to update you on my eye issue....it's healing nicely with the new medication.  I'm going to a new eye specialist who seems to care about getting my eye back to as normal as possible, thank God.
I know that if I hadn't stopped everything back at the 1st part of Aug things could have turned out much differently, but the Lord took over and I'm on the mend.
I love it that I can sit here writing my thoughts and rants and SEE what I'm doing lol life is good.
I have several rants that I need to put out there today about the Nascar Chase about the wonderful 9-11 weekend of memorials and tributes which was breathtaking.
I need to share about my life on Twitter lol it's been interesting to say the least and the comments made by some in the print media is again, interesting lol I will go into that later.
But first and foremost I want to thank you all who have had in my prayers for healing, it's working as it always does.  I feel like my sas is coming back and when it does you will know it lol.
Ciao for now I need to get dinner started....I will be back LOL

Have Faith

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff
I have been through a bit of rough time the past 3 months with an eye issue. I have a new doctor and team to follow me and get this eye healed on stable I thank Dr. Yee for that :).
Now, for my HS reunion thoughts...that was the best time I've had in a very long time. See and catching up with the BEST DAM class on planet earth Villa Park HS Villa Park Ca just rocked back in the 60's and 70's. The class of 71 was the ONE lol and I'm proud to say I was part of them and still am even after 40 years. The reunion was held in Temecula Ca which is just outside of San Diego (where I was born) it's a beautiful area with Wineries all over the place with some of the best Wine in the world, it's a mini Napa.
Brian and I stayed with his parents in Carlsbad by the ocean for a few days it was wonderful, cool and just beautiful.
I'm grateful for all the good thought and prayers and support for me during the last few months, I'm on the road to recovery thank you very much lol.
I will post my thoughts on the haps in Nascar soon, and boy do I have a RANT built up lol

VPHS Reunion Update

If anyone that follows my blog is also one of my high school buds, all the information of buying tickets and where to stay is posted at htt://vphs71reunion.blogspot.com/p/welcome.html

For most of the last three to four months I have been dealing with a problem with my left eye. Finally after a year of issues with it I was diagnosed with Glaucoma and I have to have a Cornea transplant the end of August.
I'm sorry I haven't been here in a few months to keep you all updated with the happenings in Nascar, I will be back to normal soon I promise.
With that said I am not happy with the performance of the #5 car and I'm sure Mark Martin isn't either but he's bound and determined to fight his way back up to the top 10. He sits 20th which is the lowest he's been in a 30yr career in Nascar stay tuned and watch.

God Bless On Memorial Day

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff

I want to take a moment to say "Thank You" to all our men and women in our armed forces now and those that have given their lives for all of us and the Freedoms we all have because of their ultimate sacrifice.

My father served in WW11 on the USS Radford and served proudly during one of the bloodiest battles in the South Pacific. Dad shares almost on a daily basis and he's now 91, what he experienced as a young man fighting in a very mean, ugly war. We as Americans must NOT forget what they did for us and died for our freedom.

Take the time if you see a young man or women in uniform to say "Thank You" and shake there hand.

I will always be grateful to dad and all those who have preceded him in defending this precious country we call The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA yeahhhh I'm so damn proud to be AMERICAN oh yes I am.

Ciao for now and have a wonderful weekend

Prayers For All In The Storms today

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the terrible tornado's in AL and through out the Southeast.

Mother Nature is very humbling and she doesn't play favorites it's going to take many months or long for them to recover, so lets please give to the American RED CROSS who are now there helping those displaced.

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff

This weekend Nascar is at Talladega the fastest track on the circuit and the scariest, for which I don't watch most of the race lol just the beginning, middle and end that about all I can stand.

I just wanted to point out of few things and seem to get lost in translation over on twitter lol. What I said was with the down turn that couple of years with job loss, home foreclosures ect there is also a downturn at most of the tracks Nascar visits and that downturn is NOT NARCARS fault period the end.

I just I'm really clear about that....Nascar does a good job it's a never ending job with all the intenties that are involved in our sport, so there I hope that clears up any questions as to what I said.

Ciao for now I'm getting my new puter set up lol

Robin Williams On Loving this Country

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff

Maybe HE should run for the Big Office!! YOU HAVE TO LOVE HIM...A MUST READ...READ THIS!HE MADE THIS SPEECH IN NEW YORK .

The Plan! Robin Williams, wearing a shirt that says 'I love New York ' in Arabic. You gotta love Robin Williams........Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message. Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)'I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan.' 1) 'The US, UK , CANADA and AUSTRALIA will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good 'ole' boys', we will never 'interfere' again.2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East, and the Philippines . They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are from. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them. 4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.5) No foreign 'students' over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a 'D' and it's back home baby. 6) The US, UK , CANADA and AUSTRALIA will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing non-polluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while. 7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.) 8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere..' They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army.. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE. Now, isn't that a winner of a plan? The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' ' If you agree with the above, forward it to friends...If not, and I would be amazed if you DELETED it!!

Thoughts and Prayers for Japan

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff
Again mother earth showed us again today just who is in charge and who's not....our thoughts and prayers go out to all in Japan for the devastating loss of life. And to our friends in the Santa Cruz Ca area thoughts and prayers to all I know that a young man was swept out to sea while recording the waves coming in.
As we all know that is not the thing to do, when a Tsunami warning is given they are very serious that we all listen and stay AWAY from the beach.
My mother in law called me this morning from Carlsbad Ca and said there were thousands of people on the beach watching for the big wave with KIDS!!!!, need I say more?

Welcome The 2011 Nascar Speedweeks In Daytona Is Here

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff
Well, the Superbowl is over and the Pack took home the Lombardi trophy....we are "gearing" up for Nascar's Superbowl The Daytona 500, who will take home the Harley Earl trophy? The field has 43 hopefuls and very very talented drivers.
With the repaving of the 2.56 track I hear it's grippy but there are still some of the "bumps" not sure where they are, but it's still the monster track that started it all 50+ years ago, when the racing was on done on the beach itself, man o man what I would have given to see a race like that and on the beach to boot lol.
This is also the 10 year anniversary of the passing of Dale Earnhardt, who died on the last lap on turn four what Dale saw was his new driver Michael Waltrip leading being pushed was his young son Dale Jr. and he was 3rd.
Dale was protecting his cars and his "boys" for the win....when the unthinkable happened. In a blink Dale was gone in an accident that to this day is as vivid as if it happened yesterday. The out pouring of grief was nothing like I've ever seen.
This will be a day I will always remember as I was watching the race when he crashed...and I remember what I was doing on 09-11....I watched the Challenger explode right there in front of me on TV and I remember my 5Th grade teacher walk back in our classroom after being called out by Mr. Pringle (principle) to tell his very young students that President John Kennedy had been shot and killed in Dallas TX.
So, to say that this Speedweeks to the Daytona is special is an understatement it's HUGE.
Ciao for now and stay tuned

Happy New Year 2011

Happy New Year 2011 wow it's hard to believe it's 2011 already. I feel that 2011 is going to be a better year all around for everyone.
I don't do new years resolutions what I try to do is set goals and complete them which for me this past year hasn't always been easy.
But, this year I am going to do it a little differently....first and foremost I am thankful for each and every day I have which is God given :)
I will make a list of things to get done during the week with the thought of paying it forward for someone in need.
When you give with a free heart it comes back to you x10, I know I've seen it.
I am at this moment working on being more patient and open minded of other's, not everyone thinks as I do or has my beliefs which makes us ALL individuals. I feel myself evolving with age lol that's a shock to even write this as I see myself changing and still growing at 59 which I find exciting.
I send you all lots of love and smiles for a great new year, just remember that it takes YOU to make it a great year. Make every day, minute a great time, make a beautiful memory for each day and record it so you can share it with family and friends.
I do look forward to Nascar this year this will be Mark Martins last year in the #5 which should be a great memory in Marks career memory book, I know it has been a great and some times a wild ride 20+ years riding the rush of Nascar, but it's going to slow down big time which I look forward to.
I wonder what is in store around the corner I love a surprise as I'm sure you all do.
Ciao for now and again Happy 2011
