On Tony Stewart

The very shocking ruling came down today that the DA in the Tony Stewart case involving a death at a east coast short dirt track, is being handed over to the local grand jury.
It seems to me that the local PD did their investigation very thoroughly and decided they didn't want to be the one's to announce case or no case, so they handed the HOT case over to the DA which took their sweet time of say yea or nae and they decided to had the HOT case over to the Grand Jury NY.
I am stunned it's escalated to this stage to be honest, but when I look at the bloody feeding frenzy the Media has just day's after the ACCIDENT, I'm not surprised Tony has been tried and convicted in the press.
And to the uninformed non racing people who have no idea what happened, who weren't at the track when the accident happened, spuing their no sense opinion on a subject they know nothing about, but isn't that the way it is today????
Tony is NOT guilty of manslaughter or anything else it was a terrible racing accident which was cause my a driver after he decided he would get out of his race car to show he's not happy with Tony about whatever it was he was upset about.  The first rule in racing is you do not ever get out of you car on a race tracking after a accident until the safety team as arrived and secures the area around the car, period.
I'm very sad this young man died, and for the untold grief his family is going through right now. I'm also very sad for Tony who is a very good man and wouldn't intentionally hurt anyone, he's a race car driver.
Those are my thoughts on a very emotionally charged situation right and that's all I have to share on this very sad subject.

Starting Fresh With the Beginning of Fall

It's been almost a year since I posted it's amazing to see how time flew this in 2014 here we are at the end of September and it feels like I just finished my last post, oh well, moving on to Fresh Starts.
It doesn't need to be the beginning of a new year to start Fresh and make changes, that will happen all year as I am learning.
I haven't been myself for a long while and I had to take this journey I've been on the last 2 years to get here, today feeling FRESH feeling like Melanie is finally taking control, and starting to get back into my groove.
I'm here to say that it's rough in our world today but like the Lord has taught us we are to lay all our concerns at his feet and trust in him, for he will take us where we are suppose to be.
With that said, I'm going to spruce up my webpage to fit me, I'm going to be focusing on what matters to me, not to anyone elce.  I would hope that you will find meaning and maybe a idea or two.
I love cooking so I will be posting some yummy receipies and I'm going to ask my close friends to also post here.
I love NASCAR and of course I will rant on that subject when the need arises lol which may start today, I'm speaking of the Tony Stewart situation.
So, there you have it, I know I've lost followers I'm hoping others will join me in my Fresh Start as we start into Fall, my very fav time of the year.
God Bless you all and ciao for now

Happy 2014

2013 was a very stressful year to start with Brian had issues with his job..Daddy at the age of 93 was starting to decline which I saw coming...and I was stuck in the middle of both trying to maintain a calm and functioning home.
My work was stressful, we had layoffs which was very hard on everyone.  My good friend Jimmy was laid off in Feb 13 and it really rocked the whole department.
I kept moving forward keeping my heart open to the Lord who gave me the strength to keep my head on straight.
At the end of Aug. daddy was admitted to Boulder City Hospital with a nasty UTI (urinary tract infection) with medication that was clearing up and the journey began for him.
A few days into Sept. I found myself at the hospital with daddy he had entered the world of Dementia and was wanting to go home to the Lord and mother.
On 11-04-13 daddy went home very peacefully and it was such a relief that his struggle to hang on had come to an end.
Today my nieces' husband Todd went to the Lord after suffering with Luekemia for over 5yrs.  I know this is a tough time for her but she has strong family support.
Have a good day and don't forget to tell your family how much you love them.

Just For The Record

From Track Side with Melli

Just for the record on my comments tonight on Twitter pointing out the Nascar and or Fox Sports got the 4 race segment finishing positions of the drivers incorrect.
I was not pointing fingers or trying to make anyone look silly or stupid, I simply mentioned that the ave finishing position of Jimmy Johnson #48 was not 4th.
It would have been around 10th or so not 4th is all I was saying and it wasn't caught.
When a mistake is made it needs to be acknowledged and use as a learning tool for next year so it doesn't happen again.
If your going to start something new make sure everyone including the media covering the race and all the teams know exactly who's on first.
That's all there is to that and it's kinda of funny I got so much attention it was even mentioned on the after show on Fox. lol
Ciao for and I will be back soon

Big Racing Day Indy and Nascar

This has been an all racing day to start it was Indy Pole day for the then Indy 500 next weekend.
In Memory Of Dan Weldon
The picture here is of the late Indy Car driver Dan Weldon.
Now, for tonight it's Nascar's All Star Race or dash for a million in cash.  It's the craziest race of the year but so much fun.
It's mash it son mash it..lol it's just balls to the wall to the end for alllll that cash.
Next weekend we will be celebrating Memorial Day and all our troops.  The Coca Cola 600 (which should be shortened by 100 laps) is the longest and toughest on the drivers.  It's a hot, long, grueling race at night.

This is a Nascar picture of which I don't know which track it is lol I wanted my Charlotte
Have a great weekend.

The Nascar 2013 Season Begins

The Racing season has begun today's race in the Phx AZ.

The Nascar 2013 season is under way it should be a action packed season to say the least.
We have Mark Martin on the pole for the umpteenth time over his very long and storied racing career, WTG Mark it just shows that being over the big 50 isn't the retirement age it's just beginning of our 2nd journey in life and I love it.
The race next weekend will be in Las Vegas NV, which I will be at most of the weekend.
There is such energy that fills the valley when Cup is here its hard to explain you just need to be here to experience it.
Well, the green flag is about to drop and need to get going Ciao for now

Dealing With Trauma

This post never posted for some reason and I'm reposting it thanks :)

First off, I want to express my deepest sympathy to the Weldon family after his death in Las Vegas 10-16 at LVMS....this all leads to why I'm writing this tonight I've been asked "How do you do what you do in the ER and keep you emotions in check?" Thats a very good question and I will do my best to answer.

For those of us that chose to work in the medical field learned very early on (for me I started working in a hospital in Orange Calif 1976) that you either had the where with all or didn't to be able to emotionally handle all the stuff that comes in.
Thats it for the short version lol and thanks for asking
From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff
The Twin Gatorade 125s is over with the field set for the Daytona 500 set for Sunday 02-26.  It was the first time I've sat and watched the entire race to see who is going to make the Great American Race.
There was the usual wrecks, but the one that was bad was rookie Danica Patrick got tagged and went flying off the track hit the safer barrier thank GOD and walked away.
I'm sure she had her beg rung, going 190 to 0 in seconds hurts and hurts alot, but with all the safety surrounding NASCAR drivers she is sore but good.
I've had a good week, had a bout of the 24hr flu got hit by a MAC truck but now good.
I'm wondering when something is going to be done about the out of control gas prices AGAIN!!! Washington doesn't get it....I don't care about a singing President I care about the millions of people out of work and those that are working but on fixed incomes now being faces with this added expense including myself.
Who am I and other making Billionaires with CRAP??? It's time that the good American Folks raise up and YELL "WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE ANYMORE".
That is from a one my favorite movies Network Albert Finney got it right and I think it fits all of us today.
Thanks for letting me rant, have a great evening

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff
http://thepioneerwoman.com/
Good Morning, happy Saturday to you all....I love the weekends even though I have to work them it's still my fav time of the week.
Please check out the link I've posted The Pioneer Woman it's one of my very fav's Ree Drummond is the blogger and has a show on Saturday on the Food Net Work it's a great show which I look forward to every Saturday.
On Nascar, it's day 2 of practice today is for the 500, lots of changes and they are shaking the cars down.  The changes are EFI instead of carburetors, bigger plates for the plate tracks and deck lid wing changes.
It's been challenging for some teams but with this time to test so to speak they will get it.
Wondering how Jach Roush is dealing with no more CARBS!!! We shall see, Fords are looking very strong, stay tuned.
Have a wonderful weekend, and check out Pioneer Woman's link you'll enjoy it.

Don't Worry Its All Good

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff
Don't worry it's all good let me tell you why!!! I have a great job working in a great hospital with a great staff.
I gave a great husband Brian who after 29 is my best friend he still makes my heart swell when Im with him and miss him when he's gone.
My father Jerry 91 is doing good for a guy his age he is an amazing man whos had an amazing life Im very lucky that I still have my dad around.
I have wonderful in laws Ann and Rob they have always treated me like there real daughter what a blessing they are.
Although I live away from the one place on planet earth Orange County and the beach, I love living in the small town of Boulder City....it's the lil town that built the 7th wonder of the world Boulder Dam, I love being away from the insane Vegas.
It's all GOOD
Today was the first day of testing at Dayton seems Hendricks cars all did well, I'm not really thrilled about racing as I once was guess thats what happens when you get old like me lol. I miss Mark in the 5 and I know I'm going to draw the IRE of some, but Kasey Kahne just doesnt fit there he really doesn't fit anywhere.
This isn't personal but with years of watching drivers work/driver their asses off and attain top status in cup Kasey has not done so, In my humble openion.
Kasey didn't do much with his last team, and he only gets up on the wheel when he needs to impress, that my dear friends has don't happend to me lol
Mark my words on this and watch the 5 this and tell me that Mr. Hendrick made a mistake.
Ciao for now hugs

Happy 2012

I want to wish you all a happy 2012 may you all have a great year. I don't make resolutions but I am going to get into shape this year or better shape I slipped on 11 due to a year long funk, which I'm refusing to have in 2012 lol.
Brian and I are doing great busy with work and just life in general....Dad is 91 and doing well, slow but well and as for me I'm good with a new attitude.
I'm going to spruce up our house which will take most of the year I really am in the mood to shake things up with coastal living colors bring a splash of the ocean in the house I love the ocean as I born in San Diego and I really miss it, so that will be nice when it's finished.
For our vacation we went to Norfolk VA staying at the Colony in VA Beach which we love...it's a very very nice condo complex right on the beach. The weather was great our good friends Gary and Maria kept us busy and we had a blast we miss them but keep close on my NEW IPAD 2 which I love love.
Brian traded his 2004 Avalanche for a 2009 and let me tell ya that is a totally cool ride I love it. It's sea foam green with the chrome package, running boards, burl wood on the dash and center console, it's bling lol.
And my kitchen is all updated with a new 5 burner refinished hood and a new double oven all in black, I don't like the look of stainless steele, guess thats due to working around it in the ER for 35yrs lol.
Last but not least on the Nascar front...2012 will be interesting for all teams. Some are underfunded, same as with Rusty Wallace Racing he's closed his NNS shop for 2012 sad sad. Kevin Harvick Inc closed the CTS shop and sold it to RCR.
There is an abundance of drivers needing full time rides or just rides period that is also due to the lack of funding. Roush Racing has parked the #6 for the year :( that breaks my heart as that was the car Mark Martin drove for 18yrs, oh well we all need to stay positive and just pray our Country continues to rebound.
That's it for now and I know I've said this before but this time I mean it I am back and I WILL rant this year you can count on that.
Ciao for now and have a blessed week

Never Forget

I've written thousands of thoughts on the effect 9/11had on me my family and friends. I know some who lost loved ones in the towers I pray daily for them. Yes it's been 10yrs but it feels like yesterday we are a strong Nation under God we have moved forward the new tower is half way finished it's going to be beautiful.
The memorial sits between the footprints of the original towers with 2 trident steel beams that survived the ruble of the collapse was built around them it's breathtaking.
The 2 pix I've posted are from the day of the opening

Just to update you on my eye issue....it's healing nicely with the new medication.  I'm going to a new eye specialist who seems to care about getting my eye back to as normal as possible, thank God.
I know that if I hadn't stopped everything back at the 1st part of Aug things could have turned out much differently, but the Lord took over and I'm on the mend.
I love it that I can sit here writing my thoughts and rants and SEE what I'm doing lol life is good.
I have several rants that I need to put out there today about the Nascar Chase about the wonderful 9-11 weekend of memorials and tributes which was breathtaking.
I need to share about my life on Twitter lol it's been interesting to say the least and the comments made by some in the print media is again, interesting lol I will go into that later.
But first and foremost I want to thank you all who have had in my prayers for healing, it's working as it always does.  I feel like my sas is coming back and when it does you will know it lol.
Ciao for now I need to get dinner started....I will be back LOL

Have Faith

From Track Side with Melli & Other Stuff
I have been through a bit of rough time the past 3 months with an eye issue. I have a new doctor and team to follow me and get this eye healed on stable I thank Dr. Yee for that :).
Now, for my HS reunion thoughts...that was the best time I've had in a very long time. See and catching up with the BEST DAM class on planet earth Villa Park HS Villa Park Ca just rocked back in the 60's and 70's. The class of 71 was the ONE lol and I'm proud to say I was part of them and still am even after 40 years. The reunion was held in Temecula Ca which is just outside of San Diego (where I was born) it's a beautiful area with Wineries all over the place with some of the best Wine in the world, it's a mini Napa.
Brian and I stayed with his parents in Carlsbad by the ocean for a few days it was wonderful, cool and just beautiful.
I'm grateful for all the good thought and prayers and support for me during the last few months, I'm on the road to recovery thank you very much lol.
I will post my thoughts on the haps in Nascar soon, and boy do I have a RANT built up lol

VPHS Reunion Update

If anyone that follows my blog is also one of my high school buds, all the information of buying tickets and where to stay is posted at htt://vphs71reunion.blogspot.com/p/welcome.html

For most of the last three to four months I have been dealing with a problem with my left eye. Finally after a year of issues with it I was diagnosed with Glaucoma and I have to have a Cornea transplant the end of August.
I'm sorry I haven't been here in a few months to keep you all updated with the happenings in Nascar, I will be back to normal soon I promise.
With that said I am not happy with the performance of the #5 car and I'm sure Mark Martin isn't either but he's bound and determined to fight his way back up to the top 10. He sits 20th which is the lowest he's been in a 30yr career in Nascar stay tuned and watch.
